The concept for sustainable air purification
With the increasing population in the cities, the air quality in urban areas deteriorates. Our living and working spaces need suitable airflow for our well-being, but living on a busy street or with bad ventilation infrastructure makes airing the spaces difficult. The increased demand for carbon filters, which are used for the filtration of tiny pollutants perform generally well but are usually composed of multiple materials and have to be replaced often, which leads to generating a lot of waste.
This project is an attempt to re-design air purifiers to create a sustainable and affordable solution that complies with the aesthetical and functional necessities of the space. The Curtair uses carbon granules within the textile tubes which can be separated and replaced without additional waste. The granules help eliminate unpleasant odors, VOC’s, allergens, and other toxic chemicals which cause raspatory irritation. Curtair can act as a curtain or divider on already existing installations and can therefore purify the air from outdoors and indoors.
